NOT ALL WHO WANDER ARE LOST – JRR TOLKIEN

Hi. Welcome to the Wandering Workout. I’m Megan Conner. I want to tell you a bit about what I do and who the heck I am. The Wandering Workout is a workout, food, fitness, travel site/blog where you can workout anywhere. Think travel blog but not in fancy hotels. Think a workout with a different backdrop. Think living big on a small budget. In each place that I visit I want to tell you a little about my experience there, give you a workout, and be able to train you anywhere.
A bit about me… I’m a dreamer, a personal trainer, running coach, scuba diver, a savor every biter, a breathe life inner, a live life bigger, a hopeful inspirer, a make you laugher, a singer, a writer…
I have been in the fitness business for over 21 years.(Yes, I’m old. ) My story is a funny one… I began teaching kickboxing and spinning while attending Baylor University. After graduating with a degree in theater, I moved to New York City to pursue acting, but five days after moving to the city I walked into Equinox in midtown and landed a job as a personal trainer. From then on, I was head over heels in love with the fitness business.
I went on to train at Equinox and eventually taught spinning, sculpting and other classes all over NYC as well as other cities across the country. While in New York, I taught at world class gyms such as Reebok/NY, Sports Club LA, New York Athletic Club, Equinox, Crunch and the Athletic and Swim club, among others. I also found a love in fitness management and became the the Program Director/Group Fitness Manager at the Athletic and Swim Club for over two years where I managed all of group fitness classes, instructors, programs and also created and administrated the Athletic and Swim Triathlon Club.
In 2006, I had the opportunity to move to Nashville to pursue a career in music. While in Nashville, I had the opportunities to train at the award-winning Takes 2 Fitness and the acclaimed Barry’s Bootcamp both in Nashville and in LA.
Early in moving to Nashville I focused on both fitness and music. 15 years in the music blessed me with landing songs with most recently Craig Morgan's new single - How You Make a Man and also songs with Rascal Flatts, Chris Young, The Swon Brothers, Danny Gokey and numerous indie and international artists, TV shows and films. Although my focus shifted to music, my deep-seeded love for the fitness industry never changed and I always wanted to remain rooted and involved in fitness. I trained and wrote songs most of my days in Nashville. I loved the community of music, but more so the fitness community was home. A few accolades I picked up while in Music City were… I was voted Nashville’s top running coach in 2017/2018 in the Nashville Fit Magazine and had the honor of being the cover story for the 2nd annual marathon issue of the magazine. Nashville Lifestyle’s Magazine named my BBC class as one of the toughest instructors and workouts in Nashville, and I was honored with being voted one of the top 3 Nashville Personal Trainers in the Nashville Scene in 2015.
My personal training business in Nashville began when women started asking me to train them for their weddings…and 8 years later I’m still training women for their weddings! I used to solely train my clients in person, but my life changed in a big way in 2020. I decided to pick up and leave everything that I had built for 15 years in Nashville and take it all on the road. Now, here we are! I couldn’t be happier wandering, traveling, eating and working (out) all over the place.
Thank you for wandering with me. I’m glad you’re here.
